A rare find for the Stereo Enthusiast and Collector
Stereo Realist ROTARY slide viewer
Here is something you don't see very often:
Stereo realist rotary (sequential) advertising viewer!
These viewers were used in the 1950s in camera shops, loaded with demo slides, to advertise the Stereo Realist
"The Camera that Sees The Same As You"
.  The customer will look through and supposedly get hooked into stereo and buy the camera.  Or pick up the "free literature" to read more about Realist photography.
As you can see from these pictures, the viewer uses the
same optics as the Realist red button
.  The entire lens assembly can be replaced too from another viewer, if desired.

: There is crack on the side, see pictures. It does not affect operation
Inside the viewer there is a
drum
that can be loaded with 12 stereo slides.  The design of the viewer is such that
frequent changes of stereo slides are not encouraged
(viewer must be opened - screws removed, tabs bent, etc).  To go from one slide to the next, the knob on the right is rotated.  There are no click stops from slide to slide.
To access the drum you have to remove 4 screws from the bottom.  Then remove the top to expose the drum.  Each slide is supported by 4 tabs.  Illumination is achieved with
two AC bulbs
inside the viewer.  Light is always on when the viewer is plugged in AC (no on-off switch but one could be added if so desired).
Note
: I have replaced the original bulbs with a
pair of LED bulbs
. The light is strong and there is no heat! Works really great for this viewer!
This viewer comes with some slides inside.  They are not great slides, but it shows you the variety of stereo slide mounts that can be used inside the viewer.
The viewer is not in perfect condition but shows some wear as you can see in these pictures.  But
I have taken it apart  and carefully cleaned the ins and outs and tested it
(and approved its operation).
