Long-abandoned runway at Syracuse airport is getting a new use, but it doesn’t include planes

Syracuse, N.Y. – A runway at Syracuse airport that was abandoned half a century ago is about to see new life — but it doesn’t involve landings and takeoffs.
Starting in the spring, Micron Technology Inc. will began leasing about half of the old runway so it can use it as parking for construction workers building a massive semiconductor plant in nearby Clay, said Jason Terreri, director of Syracuse Hancock International Airport.
